SAN ANTONIO, TX (Aug. 5, 2017) - San Antonio FC and Orange County SC played to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Field on Saturday night. An early goal from Kris Tyrpak and a late penalty for the visitors earned both teams a point in their first matchup of the season.

"We got the early goal and that settled everybody down, but we were unable to press on and get the second one," SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. "Really, tonight we've earned a point but we all would've preferred the three."

Tyrpak opened the scoring in the second minute of the match after finding the end of a cross from defender Greg Cochrane with a header, burying it past goalkeeper Charlie Lyon for the 1-0 lead. The goal was the fastest in club history, coming in at an official time of 1:34.

The strike marked Tyrpak's fifth goal of the season, which ranks second for most goals on the team this season behind Billy Forbes' seven, while Cochrane tallied his second assist of the campaign and fifth overall, which is tied for second-most in SAFC club history with Forbes.

Orange County SC leveled the score in stoppage time after the referee called a penalty for a foul inside the hosts' box. Forward Jerry Van Ewijk converted from the spot in the dying moments of the match to earn his team a point.

San Antonio FC will return to USL action on Saturday, August 12 as they visit Reno 1868 FC in the teams' second matchup of the season. SAFC previously beat Reno 4-0 at Toyota Field on April 15.
