New York Red Bulls II News Release

MONTCLAIR, N.J.- New York Red Bulls II defeated the Rochester Rhinos, Saturday at MSU Soccer Park for the first time in regulation by a score of 2-1. Goals scored by Arun Basuljevic and Stefano Bonomo were the difference in the match.

New York opened the scoring in the fifth minute as a ball sent in behind the Rochester defense caused confusion deflecting off an onrushing Tomas Gomez to the foot of Basuljevic who knocked it home for his first professional goal of his career.

Noah Powder nearly doubled NYRB II's lead in the 42nd minute glancing the top of the cross bar with a left-footed effort.

Rochester's Joseph Farrell was issued his second yellow card of the match and ejected in the 44th minute allowing New York to play up a man for the rest of the match.

Ten minutes into the second half, Bonomo put away his second goal in three matches this season slotting one home past a diving Gomez to double New York's lead.

In the 71st minute, Rochester would pull one back on the score sheet off a penalty kick that Wal Fall converted past Rafael Diaz who guessed the right way on the attempt.

Two red cards were issued to Rochester's Kenardo Forbes and New York's Arun Basuljevic in the 83rd minute leaving the rest of the match to be played ten versus nine.

New York killed off the rest of the match to earn the full three points and further help their playoff push.
