Quotes:
Head Coach Alen Marcina
(On the draw...)
"23-game home unbeaten streak, highly impressive. Doubled the opponent's shots, did more than enough to earn three points tonight. But we'll take the point, move on."
(On frustration after the match...)
"Zero frustration. Challenges - we embrace challenges, we find solutions. And we will find solutions. I'm very optimistic, with the group we have. And ... it's just a matter of time before that final action goes into the back of the net. Again, every opponent we out shoot them, and we did more than enough to win the game. So frustrated, 100% no, that would be inaccurate to say or read on myself, or on my players. We're very optimistic. We're a very good team and again, it's a marathon right?"
(On playing Las Vegas again next week...)
"We're excited for that game, let's put it this way. ... Can't wait, we're excited. Guys are going to be ready."
Defender Connor Maloney
(On the draw...)
"We did some good things tonight, it's still a tie, so we've got to move on. Learn from some things tonight, and take away some of the good things that we did tonight. So it's another learning opportunity for us, and we grew again in this game and we did a lot of good things and we'll apply them for the next game against Vegas again."
(On if the team was frustrated after the draw...)
"We're all together as one in that locker room. We fight for each other each and every day, ... I love theses guys, I know ... we're doing the best for each other and going out there and fighting for one another and that's all you can ask for. So the guys in the locker room, we know who we are. We know the quality that we have and we know that each and every one of us is going to work hard for one another. That's still the mindset in the locker room right now."
Defender Mitchell Taintor
(On not being able to play due to injury...)
"Yeah of course, ... this is the first injury I've had in my career and it's agonizingly painful to sit in the box and watch the guys play without me. I think even without me we've shown really good things over the last month and a half and there are a lot of positives to take. I think everyone knows the standard of this club and it's 'we've got to win at all costs.' That's what we do, and anything less than three points is really disappointing regardless if it's 5-5 or whatever the score is so there's a lot of positives to build on but there's a lot of things that we need to improve on. And that's the sport, that's part of becoming champions - it's a new year."
(On pressure as the reigning champions...)
"Obviously 2022 was an unbelievable year for the club and for the city, and we're obviously looking to replicate that. But it doesn't always work that way. So we're doing all the right things that we need to do to move forward in that direction, and we had similar stuff last year, we're going through some rough patches but still finding ways to win. Right now the ball's not falling our way and it just is what it is right now. But I think everyone should just keep having full confidence in the players individually and the club as a whole."
(On missing the last four matches...)
"There's certainly a lot of ups and downs with the injury, more mentally than physically. Obviously I want to be on the field all the time, and watching the games and not being able to participate in trainings, for the last month probably, ... has been really difficult mentally, but it's part of being a mentality monster. ... It's easy to be a mentality monster when things are going right. I go back a lot to my penalty kick in the Final last year. That was the worst moment of my life. That was the worst kick of my life. But being a mentality monster is how you react to that, and you saw what happened, we ended up being champions so you know, with guys making mistakes, maybe they're a little down in their luck, it's about how you handle it. That's what we're great at at this club, it's our mental strength."
