San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC defender Fabien Garcia has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench, the league announced today.
Garcia contributed to two dominant defensive efforts last week, with SAFC going 2-0-0 against FC Tulsa and Charleston Battery. Garcia and the San Antonio defense held the two teams to a combined one goal scored on just 12 shots with the lone goal serving as the only shot on target.
In two starts, Garcia played all 180 minutes and racked up seven tackles, eight interceptions and three clearances.
Garcia's season total of 74 clearances is currently good for the fourth-most in the USL Championship.
This is the 15th time this season that a San Antonio FC player has been named to the weekly list, with Garcia making it four times. The SAFC centerback trio of Garcia, Mitchell Taintor and Jasser Khmiri has accounted for 10 of the appearances this season.
SAFC is off this weekend, before returning to Toyota Field on July 16 to host Atlanta United FC 2. The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. CT, with tickets on sale now at SanAntonioFC.com or the San Antonio FC app.
