Fifty-Assist Forbes Picked for Team of the Week

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Kenardo Forbes was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 17, the league announced this afternoon.

Forbes became the first player to hit 50 assists for his career in the Championship when he set up Alex Dixon's opening goal with a cross-field, diagonal pass in the Hounds' 3-0 win Friday at New York Red Bulls II. The Hounds' captain also made the key pass on the team's second goal, playing the ball to Russell Cicerone down the right flank to send him alone behind the defense.

The assist also gives Forbes five already on the season, putting the five-time all-USL selection on pace for the highest single-season total of his career. He also recorded five interceptions and won possession seven times in a strong box-to-box effort.

It is the second Team of the Week honor for Forbes this season, and he is joined in the league's top 18 by Cicerone, who was selected to the bench for his first two-goal game of the season against New York. The full Team of the Week can be found at uslchampionship.com.

The Hounds are back on the field Wednesday, July 6, when they host Indy Eleven at 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium. Tickets for the game are available via Ticketmaster or at the Highmark Stadium Box Office.
