San Antonio FC Advances to Western Conference Semifinals with Win

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 21, 2017) - San Antonio FC beat Tulsa Roughnecks FC 2-1 at Toyota Field on Saturday night, securing their spot in the USL Cup Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals. Goals from Cesar Elizondo and Ever Guzman propelled the team to a come-from-behind win in front of 7,019 in the club's first-ever USL playoff match.

The Alamo City club will now host Oklahoma City Energy FC at Toyota Field in the USL Cup Playoffs Western Conference Semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the match are on sale now, and fans can purchase tickets by visiting SanAntonioFC.com or calling 210-444-5MLS.

"This team has shown resilience all year through several different situations," SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. "You can't be prouder of the players. They fought until the last second."

The Roughnecks opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after midfielder Paris Gee collected the ball at the top of the box following a corner kick and placed a shot in the top corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Elizondo then leveled the score in the 61st minute after deflecting a shot from midfielder Omar Gordon into the visitors' net. The goal marked Elizondo's fifth of the season and first since his brace at Portland Timbers 2 on April 28. The assist marked Gordon's third of the season.

The Alamo City club was then awarded a penalty kick in stoppage time after midfielder Billy Forbes was taken down in the box. Guzman then converted from the spot to earn the 2-1 win. The goal marked Guzman's fifth in the last four matches. Guzman has tallied five goals and one assist in all competitions since joining the Silver and Black in August.

SAFC midfielder Pecka recorded a 92.9 percent passing accuracy in the match, including a 89.3 percent accuracy in the opposition half over a team-high 28 passes in that part of the field
