San Antonio Commanders Daily Training Camp Update for Monday, January 14, 2019

TODAY'S NEWS

The 2019 San Antonio Commanders held its ninth of 22 Training Camp practices on Monday at Central Catholic High School's Bob Benson '66 Stadium.

The practice started at 11:30 a.m. and finished shortly after 1 p.m. with the players wearing jerseys and helmets.

The practice session was a quarter-paced walk-through, allowing the coaches to continue to teach and implement the offensive and defensive schemes, while allowing the players an active rest.

The Alliance of American Football announced the game times for the Commanders' weeks 2-10 games.

The Commanders' full schedule with game times is below:

Week 1 Saturday, Feb. 9 San Diego at San Antonio 7 p.m.

Week 2 Sunday, Feb. 17 Orlando at San Antonio 3 p.m.

Week 3 Sunday, Feb. 24 San Antonio at San Diego 7 p.m.

Week 4 Sunday, March 3 San Antonio at Birmingham 3 p.m.

Week 5 Sunday, March 10 San Antonio at Arizona 7 p.m.

Week 6 Sunday, March 27 San Antonio at Atlanta 3 p.m.

Week 7 Saturday, March 23 Salt Lake at San Antonio 7 p.m.

Week 8 Sunday, March 31 Arizona at San Antonio 7 p.m.

Week 9 Saturday, April 6 Memphis at San Antonio 3 p.m.

Week 10 Friday, April 12 San Antonio at Salt Lake 7 p.m.

Linebacker Kennan Gilchrist (Appalachian State) has changed his jersey number from 47 to 50.

The Commanders' roster is at 75 players from 48 different colleges and universities. Texas A&M University and the University of Houston have the most representation on the roster with five players each.

A member of The Alliance of American Football, the San Antonio Commanders have an experienced professional coaching and front office staff led by head coach Mike Riley, general manager Daryl Johnston and team president Vic Gregovits.

The Commanders compete in The Alliance of American Football with the Atlanta Legends, Arizona Hotshots, Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Orlando Apollos, Salt Lake Stallions and San Diego Fleet. The Commanders team name draws inspiration from San Antonio's Military City, USA nickname. From Bowie to Travis to the 39,000-plus who graduate each year from military training at Joint Base San Antonio, Commanders have called San Antonio home for more than 300 years.

The Commanders take their first snap on February 9 against the San Diego Fleet with home games being played at the Alamodome. The Commanders team headquarters while in training camp in San Antonio will be the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Antonio Downtown. Practices will be held at Central Catholic High School.
