San Angelo evens up series with Aviators

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Coastal Bend Aviators lost to the San Angelo Colts 9-4 Wednesday night. San Angelo's win evened the three-game series at 1-1.

San Angelo scored first in the second inning when J.P. Schmidt hit a two-run single. Kory Drew added a RBI single in the inning making the score 3-0.

The Aviators scored one run in both the third and fourth inning on RBI singles from Kenny Hansley and Edwin Maldonado making the score 3-2.

Brett Cooley hit a solo shot for San Angelo making the score 4-2. The Colts added five runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-2 lead.

Jack Joffrion hit his third homerun of the season, a two-run shot in the seventh inning, to make the score 9-4. Joffrion also came into the game to pitch, throwing one inning of scoreless relief.

Jason Weidmeyer (1-3) started, pitching eight innings, to pick up the win for San Angelo. Elliott Shaw (0-1) took the loss for the Aviators.

The Aviators wrap up the three-game series at San Angelo Thursday night at 7:05. The Aviators return home on May 31st to take on Pensacola in a three-game series.
