Fort Worth Cats News Release

Kevin Lynn pitched six innings of shutout baseball and Terrell Merriman had a homer and two RBI in a 2-0 Cats win Thursday night at LaGrave Field.

The win completed a three-game sweep of Jackson and improved the Cats' unblemished home record to 9-0. Their overall record now stands at 14-5.

Lynn (5-0) earned his league-leading fifth victory of the season after allowing no runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts in his six innings of work.

Cats' closer Mike Snapp notched his league-leading seventh save of the season, wiggling out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning to seal the victory.

The Cats got on the board in the third inning as Terence Green singled with one out, stole second base and then scored on a Merriman RBI single.

Fort Worth added a run in the eighth inning when Merriman belted his fourth homer of the year, a solo shot to right.

The Senators threatened in the ninth inning by loading the bases with two outs, but Erick Mejias hit a comebacker to the mound to end the game.

Jackson stranded 11 baserunners in the game including leaving the bases loaded in both the first and ninth innings.

Senators' starter Reid Casey (1-3) suffered the loss as he allowed only one run on five hits in six solid innings of work.

Cats' pitching struck out 16 batters on Thursday night, bringing the total for the three-game series to 41 strikeouts of Jackson hitters.
