Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
During the off-season, we have a great opportunity to look forward, and also have a chance to look back at season's past. Today, with a look back at the 2001-2003 seasons, we'll see which players are at the top of the Saltdogs leaderboards. There have been five players who've played in at least a portion of Lincoln's three regular seasons. That list includes three position players (Darren Doskocil, Alexis Hernandez and Bryan Warner) and two pitchers (Andy Lee and Chris Weidert). So it stands to reason that players in that group hold a majority of the team records. Following is a sampling of Saltdogs career leaders in a number of categories.
Home Runs â Bryan Warner (37)
Runs Batted In â Bryan Warner (184)
Runs Scored â Darren Doskocil (162)
Hits â Bryan Warner (310)
Stolen Bases â Dustin Delucchi (41)
Wins â Clay Eason, Thomas Ford, Doug Johnston, Alan Ochsner, Troy Silva (10)
Saves â Chris Weidert (50)
Saltdogs Question of the Week â Where do you get your ideas for the turf designs we see during the season at Haymarket Park, and how many different patterns do you use in a season?
Ideas for field design come from other parks and from a book written by a member of the Boston Red Sox grounds crew. The Saltdogs grounds crew adjusts the design to make it look impressive at Haymarket Park. For full effect, the designs are generally mowed into the Haymarket Park grass four times before they're seen at a game. Designs are usually changed before each homestand, so you can expect to see about 10 patterns at Saltdogs games in 2004. Lynda Anderson submitted this week's Question and will be receiving a $10.00 gift certificate to the Saltdogs Souvenir Store!
Front Office Profile â Jennifer Roeberâ Assistant Athletic Turf Manager
A member of the award-winning Haymarket Park grounds crew, Jennifer will be travelling to San Diego this week to pick up the award for the Sports Turf Managers Association College-Baseball Field of the Year. The 23-year-old Roeber lists cooking as one of her major skills, and she treats the Saltdogs front office to tasty treats quite often. A graduate of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Jennifer is taking classes part time at UNL. She has recently welcomed a new addition into her family, a German Shepherd/Husky mix named Squeaky.
