Salmon Kings Endure Whirlwind Thursday

Stockton, CA - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, head into tomorrow night's contest versus the Stockton Thunder with significant roster changes following a busy Thursday.
The Salmon Kings were involved in three transactions with the American Hockey League (AHL) on Thursday. The Vancouver Canucks reassigned Manitoba Moose winger Eric Walsky to Victoria, while the Calgary Flames reassigned Abbotsford Heat goaltender Leland Irving, and in turn recalled netminder David Shantz to the Heat. Both Irving and Walsky are expected to be in Stockton for tomorrow night's contest versus the Thunder, while Shantz has traveled to Texas to join the Heat for a series versus the Stars.
Forwards Scott Howes and Dirk Southern both sustained lower body injuries during last night's contest versus the Thunder at Stockton Arena, and are expected to be kept out of the lineup for a large portion of the remainder of the regular season.
Defenseman Brandon Roach has also been granted bereavement leave from the team, and has returned home to Bay Roberts, Newfoundland.
The Salmon Kings and Thunder continue their three-game set with contests on Friday, January 29th, and Saturday, January 30th. Victoria returns home to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre next week to host the Utah Grizzlies in a three-game set with matches on Wednesday, February 3rd, Friday, February 5th, and Saturday, February 6th.
