Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings and the City of Victoria are excited to host Thursday night drop-in ball hockey for three dates in the month of August at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Salmon Kings played host to a charity fundraiser for the Salmon Kings Foundation on July 7th with high success. The Salmon Kings Foundation invited members of the Salmon Kings most avid fans from the teams fan forum at www.salmonkings.com with over twenty ‘Salmonheads' turning out for the event.

"This is an excellent opportunity for hockey fans to get out onto the floor and play under the bright lights of the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre where they will see professional hockey being played in just a few short months," said Adam Olsen, Communications Coordinator of the Victoria Salmon Kings.

The general public over the age of sixteen are invited to attend drop-in ball hockey on Thursday August 4th, 11th and 25th. Game time is 8:00 pm and the games will run until 10:00 pm. Cost for the evening of hockey is only $5.00, with goaltenders registration fee being waived.

"We're very excited and pleased to be working with the Salmon Kings on this initiative," comments Geoff Welham, Sport Services Programmer with the City of Victoria. "We are focused on providing fun and exciting community opportunities in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. When we combine the efforts of our Recreation Services Division with the Salmon Kings and their strong focus on the Victoria community, the result is a great recreation opportunity."

"Salmon Kings defenseman Nate Forster will be attending the first game on August 4th and we hope to get more players involved as we get closer to game nights," said Olsen. "The Salmon Kings are thrilled to begin play in such a fantastic facility as the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, but this is not just our building, we share it with the citizens of Greater Victoria and are enthusiastic to enjoy it with fans of hockey."

Interested players can register on game day either in person at the Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre at 2275 Quadra Street or by phoning 361-0732.
