Daytona Cubs Shortstop Issmael Salas The Offensive Charge With Three Huge Hits On Wednesday Night

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla-Anyone who has ever met Cubs infielder Issmael Salas, knows that he spends everyday at the ballpark with a huge smile on his face.
On Wednesday night, he gave the fans at Jackie Robinson Ballpark a reason to smile right along with him.
In Game 2 of a four-game series against the Clearwater Threshers, Salas led the charge as he went 3-for4 with a pair RBI doubles, a solo homerun and two runs scored, to help guide Daytona to the victory by a final of 4-2.
Cubs starter Yorkin Ferreras (1-3) notched his first Florida State League victory in over two years, as the left-hander logged six full innings and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out four.
Threshers starter Chris Honsa (3-4) went seven full innings but gave up three earned runs on five hits and was charged with his third loss of the season.
The Cubs âpen was also stellar as lefties Paul Shappert and Clay Rapada combined to retire the final nine Threshers in order, while Rapada notched his third save of the season.
Rapada also recorded two strikeouts in the final frame and has now 54 K's in 38.1 innings of work.
With the win the Cubs improved to 16-22 for the second half while the Threshers dropped to 14-24. The two teams will go head-to-head for Game 3 on Thursday night at the Cubs send righty Juan Mateo (7-5, 3.96 ERA) to face off against Threshers right-hander Scott Mathieson (2-4, 3.99 ERA).
First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EST.
