Port Huron, MI - Carolina continues to shine through their offensive firepower and it was on display Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over the Prowlers.
Jan Salak netted the first two goals of the game within 5 minutes of the first period. Josh Pietrantonio and Peter Cicmanec assisted on both Salak goals. Port Huron's Artur Drindrozhik sparked some life for the Prowlers with a short-handed goal with two minutes left in the 1st. Carolina took a 2-1 lead into the lockeroom.
Middle frame was all thunderbirds scoring three unanswered goals. Viktor Grebennikov and Jay Croop each tallied while Jan Salak struck again finding mesh completing his hat trick night with 6 seconds left to go in the 2nd period and a four-goal lead going into the third.
Port Huron cut the lead to three on the power play from Matias Kasek but that was all the offense the Prowlers had in the third, as they drop this one at home to Carolina 5-2.
Port Huron plays their next five games on the road starting in Elmira on Friday night. Carolina will visit Watertown Friday and Saturday night capping off the weekend Sunday in Elmira. These two teams play again March 1st and 2nd in Winston-Salem.
