St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (May 11, 2010) - The St. Paul Saints will officially unveil their 2010 team, including 12-year Major Leaguer Kevin Millar, at the sixth annual World's Largest Game of Catch, Wednesday, May 12 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in downtown St. Paul. The Saints will also reveal the name of their 2010 four-legged pig mascot during the event put on in conjunction with BOMA St. Paul.

"We've always provided a terrific blend of baseball and entertainment and this event is no different," said Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Derek Sharrer. "Most people are really excited that we're welcoming back Kevin Millar. Others just can't wait for us to announce the name of the pig."

Millar signed with the Saints Saturday and made his exhibition debut that night. He began his professional career with St. Paul in 1993 in the club's inaugural season. He will be introduced at approximately 12:20 p.m. and will be available for interviews during the event.

The name of the pig will be announced following a month-long contest in which fans submitted potential names for the Saints 2010 mascot. In the past names have coincided with local flair (Garrison Squeallor in 2007), national flavor (Boarack Ohama in 2008), baseball lore (The Great Hambino in 1998) and music style (Hammy Davis Jr. in 2000, The Notorious P.I.G. - Piggy Smalls in 2003 and Squeal Diamond in 2004).

The popular lunchtime outdoor street fair will take place on Robert Street between 6th Street and 7th Place. The event serves as a kick-off to the Saints season and fans are invited to bring a glove and baseball to play catch with. Those who don't have a baseball will be provided a free soft baseball from the Saints.

The entire Saints team will be driven to the event on a Metro Transit bus and will sign autographs for those in attendance. There will be live music from Steve West and the Northern Stars, sumo wrestling, a batting tee and short program featuring Saints Manager George Tsamis and the introduction of the 2010 Saints.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Mike Hahm, City of St. Paul Director of Parks and Recreation, will announce "Play Ball" and all in attendance are encouraged to play catch.

"We look forward to this event every year to mark the unofficial start to summer," said Sharrer. "We appreciate the efforts of BOMA St. Paul and its members in helping us get the downtown community excited about our coming season."

White Castle will serve SlydersR (2 for $1) and Little Caesars will provide slices of pizza (one slice for $1) with all proceeds donated to charity. Fruchi will be sampling its real fruit frozen smoothies. Soda and water will be provided free of charge courtesy of the Saints and 7-UP.

The Saints open the season on Thursday, May 13 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Wichita. For tickets, or for more information on the Saints World's Largest Game of Catch contact the Saints at 651-644-6659 or visit saintsbaseball.com.
