DUBUQUE, IA- The Dubuque Fighting Saints and One Stop Tax and Accounting Service teamed up last Saturday evening to provide fans with "A Night of One-Stoppable Fun," and also to help a great cause. While Dubuque claimed a 5-2 win over Green Bay on the ice, the biggest success was off the ice. The Fighting Saints, and the generosity of a sold-out crowd of 3,195 fans, collected nearly 400 items for patients, and through a special warmup jersey auction, raised over $8,100 to benefit the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

"We couldn't have asked for a better event," said Fighting Saints President Dan Lehv. "The generosity of our fans and partners combined with a victory in front of a full house made it one of those very special nights at OUR HOUSE."

The Fighting Saints wore special warmup jerseys Saturday that were auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Forward Jarrid Privitera's jersey received the highest bid at $825. The design from the jerseys came from a Design-A-Jersey contest for children, presented by One Stop Tax and Accounting Service. The jerseys were silver in color with the Fighting Saints crest, University of Iowa Children's Hospital logo, and One Stop Tax and Accounting Service logo on the front, with the arms and shoulders of the jerseys accented in white and red, adorned by swords down the sleeves. Hunter Roraff, age 11, submitted the winning design. He was presented a jersey of his winning design by Sharon Winner, owner of One Stop Tax and Accounting Service.

"The Saints fans and community are such fantastic and generous people," said Winner. "Thank you to everyone that came to the game, bid on or bought jerseys and donated toys as well as the Saints Staff for all their efforts. The players made the night even more memorable by winning the game. The game may be over, the money raised and donations given will have a future impact for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital."

The involvement with the University of Iowa Children's Hospital extended well beyond the jersey auction. On December 16, Fighting Saints players Ryan Chiasson and Hayden Stewart, along with Winner and Saints staff members, visited the University of Iowa Children's Hospital to spread holiday cheer. The Fighting Saints also welcomed five former University of Iowa Children's Hospital patients and their families, all from the Dubuque area, to Saturday's game.

Saturday was the Fighting Saints fourth sell-out crowd of the season, and in addition to the jersey auction, fans brought items such as toys, puzzles, games, movies, books, and personal hygiene items, for patents at the hospital. In total, nearly 400 items were collected on Saturday.

"We are so appreciative of the support generated from fans of the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Dubuque Fighting Saints Hockey Team," said Deanna Kerns, Assistant Director of the Children's Miracle Network. "Donations such as these allow University of Iowa Children's Hospital to provide world class health care in an environment that is as comfortable as possible for pediatric patients and their families."
