San Angelo Saints News Release
San Angelo, TX â The San Angelo Saints of the Central Hockey League announced today that the team has released forwards Mike Flaman and Curtis Tidball, with still one more player to be released before the start of the 2004-2005 season. The season gets underway this Thursday night in various CHL cities, while the Saints open the season at home versus the 2003-2004 President Cup Champion Laredo Bucks Friday Night and then play host to rivals, the Odessa Jackalopes, on Saturday, both games are at 7 PM.
The Saints are allowed by league rules to have 18 players listed on their roster, but are only allowed to suit up or dress 17 for each game. Currently the Saints roster is at 19 players. "With the National Hockey League striking, there is a flood of players to all the leagues" said Head Coach Ray Edwards. Of the two players, Tidball has already received notification from former Saints Assistant Coach and current coach of the Cape Fear Fire Ants, Derek Booth, to report to his camp that starts next week. "As a coach you have to put the best product on the ice that you can," stated Edwards. "I feel that I can still upgrade this team and I wish both of the players the best of luck wherever they may end up."
In other news, the Central Hockey League will be hosting a media conference call for all media outlets in the Central Hockey League.
