Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints are proud to announce three changes to their scouting staff structure ahead of the 2023 USHL Draft. Current team scouts Dan Shrader and Trevor Edwards both received promotions to Director of Scouting and Director of Player Personnel respectively. Along with the two promotions, Pete Judge has been added to the organizations scouting staff.
Shrader joined the Fighting Saints organization prior to the 2021-22 season. The promotion to Director of Scouting for Shader, who has an extensive background as a scout, including a stop in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets as an amateur scout, and four seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Medicine Hat Tigers, will be his first time serving in that role.
"Since joining our staff, Dan has been instrumental in our scouting efforts and talent evaluations," General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Kalle Larsson said. "He is well respected in hockey circles, and we are excited for him taking on a bigger role withing our organization."
For Edwards, he has been with the Fighting Saints since October of 2016 and is the second longest tenured scout on staff. His elevation to Director of Player Personnel puts him in a familiar role. Edwards' has previous experience as Director of Player Personnel for the now defunct Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Edwards' also has served on several coaching staffs, working currently in the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins midget program and previously with HoneyBaked.
"Trevor's experience as a player and coach at multiple levels have been a great asset since joining Dubuque in 2016," Larsson said. "His knowledge about the player pool combined with his ability to think outside the box makes him a great fit for this role."
In addition to the two promotions, the Saints have also added Pete Judge as a scout. Judge has spent the last three seasons with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he helped them win the Robertson Cup in 2019. He has also previously worked with various clubs in the NAHL and NCDC, as well as ISS Hockey. He also was involved with the Ice Hockey in Harlem program, a non-profit that provided hockey lessons and social activities for children in Harlem, New York.
"Pete is a true rink rat," Larsson added. "He has experience scouting for good organizations in the past and we are excited to add him to our staff.
