San Angelo Saints News Release

San Angelo, TX—The San Angelo Saints continue working toward another Southwest Division Championship with the signing of two developmental players, Mike Flaman and Bryan Lachapelle, to contract for the 2004-05 season.

Mike Flaman enters the professional ranks after four successful seasons with the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK. During his first year with the Huskies, the 6'0 195-pound left-winger recorded 16 goals, 13 assists and 45 PIMs. In the remainder of his tenure, he contributed a total 21 goals, 31 assists and 76 PIMs. The Huskies ranked among the top 10 teams in Canada during Flaman's collegiate career, and he joined the team at Nationals for the 2001-02 championship run.

Fans can expect another strong player out of this Vibank, Saskatchewan native. The newest member of the roster hails from the same hometown as fellow left-winger Trevor Weisgerber. The two not only grew up together in the small Canadian town, but also played in the same junior league.

"I have a very good shot and I'm a fast skater; I play well on both ends of the rink," said Flaman. "I'm really looking forward to coming to Texas and meeting the fans."

The Saints filled another role at center with the signing of Bryan Lachapelle from Tay Township, Ontario. Lachapelle, 5'9" 185 pounds, played at the junior level for the Markham Waxers of the OPJHL from 1997-1999 where he notched a total 33 goals, 55 assists and 370 PIMs. After time off to further his education, he split last season between the SEHL and ECHL. He contributed 17 goals, 11 assists and 88 PIMs for the Winston-Salem T-birds of the SEHL and another 5 goals, 4 assists and 90 PIMs for the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL.

"I have a lot of energy," said Lachapelle. "I'm small, so I use my size and speed to score big goals. I play pretty physical and I have a lot of offensive ability."

"For us to be successful, our young guys will have to contribute," said Saints Head Coach/Assistant GM Ray Edwards. "We will depend heavily on Mike and Bryan to adjust quickly in San Angelo and become solid additions to our team."
