ST. PAUL, MN (March 22, 2007) - The St. Paul Saints acquired a little speed for their lineup when they received Scooter Jordan as the player to be named later in a trade with the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League.

The Saints acquired Jordan after sending left handed pitcherAnthony Boughner to the T-Bones. The 26 year-old Jordan spent all of last season with the St. Joseph Blacksnakes of the American Association where he hit .289 with 24 RBI. More importantly the outfielder was a force on the base paths, swiping 33 bases in 40 attempts, good for fourth in the league. Jordan led the league in walks with 67, the third time in his four year professional career he has done so.

"We have acquired an exciting player in Scooter Jordan," said Saints manager George Tsamis. "He's dangerous on the bases and he makes things happen. We gave up a quality pitcher in Boughner to get him. Scooter made some incredible plays against us. He can go get it out there."

Jordan was sent to the T-Bones a few days ago, which allowed him to join the Saints as part of the trade. Jordan began his professional career in 2003 when he was the 33rd round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox. He played two seasons for the Red Sox spending '03 at Single -A Lowell and '04 with Single-A Augusta and the Gulf Coast League.

The Saints also sent RHP Matt Pike and second baseman Josh Renick to Atlantic City of the Can-Am League for cash and a player to be named later.

The 28 year-old Pike spent two seasons with the Saints in '05 and '06. He was 4-8 with a 3.36 ERA in 55 games out of the bullpen. He recorded three saves last season. He fanned 64 while walking 34 over the two seasons.

"We sent Pike to Atlantic City because he wanted the opportunity to be the closer and he will get the chance there," said Tsamis.

The 28 year-old Renick spent all or parts of the past three seasons with the Saints. He hit .278 with eight homers and 92 RBI during the three seasons. He began his professional career with the Twins organization, an 11th round pick in 2001.

"Renick was a solid player for us for three years, but we ran into an LS-5 problem, so we felt this was the best move for Josh and the Saints," said Tsamis.

Matt Hammons, a 29 year-old right handed pitcher, has signed with Saltillo of the Mexican League and his rights were traded to the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League for future considerations.

The Saints roster now sits at 10 players, five position players and five pitchers. Each American Association roster can have a maximum of 22 players.
