Sacramento Republic FC News Release
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC today unveiled a new kit to commemorate the club's fifth anniversary. The jersey unveil kicks off a "#5YearsOfGlory" celebration that will span five matches throughout the rest of the season and include special activations at Papa Murphy's Park, appearances from former Republic FC legends, historical photo displays, and new commemorative merchandise, among other festivities.
"With the fifth anniversary of the club's launch approaching, we knew we wanted to do something special to mark the occasion," said Republic FC President & COO Ben Gumpert. "A lot has changed since we launched five years ago, but what has remained constant is the passion and support that our diverse fanbase and community have for this club. This new kit is a celebration of that."
Featuring a black color scheme and "energy" stripe pattern, the new Nike kit is the first black uniform in the club's history and only its second-ever third kit. The jersey also features a hidden inscription on the fabric's underside reading "Glory Glory Sacramento" to serve as a reminder of the club's mission.
"Black is a timeless color that's created from the absorption of all pigments, shades and hues," said Gumpert. "In the same spirit, our club's identity is forged from the convergence of people from all walks of life in our community."
"Similarly, the stripes on this kit produce an image of energy, movement and continuity. They're representative of the unceasing and constant passion our fans have for this club."
Republic FC will wear the Fifth Anniversary kit for the first time during their match against Real Monarchs SLC on Saturday, July 7th, which will mark the first of five "#5YearsOfGlory Celebration" matches. Each of these matches will include special giveaways, fan features and videos, activations and guest appearances at the stadium. The other four matches are as follows:
August 4 vs. Fresno FC
August 18 vs. LA Galaxy II
September 19 vs. Portland Timbers 2
October 13 vs. Las Vegas
Republic FC officially launched on July 18, 2013 during Sac Soccer Day at Raley Field when the club's name, crest and colors were first unveiled to the public.
