Sacramento Republic FC News Release
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC reached an agreement with defender James Kiffe to return him to the club's roster for the 2016 season. Kiffe will play his third season with Sacramento Republic FC, originally joining the club late in the 2014 season.
"I am delighted we've kept Kiffe at the club," said Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. "He is a brilliant lad to work with and a big part of what we are doing. He has a long way to go, but I mean that in the best sense. It's because we know there is even more that we will see from him; he has already made the left back position his own."
Kiffe originally signed with Sacramento Republic FC on August 16, 2014, and made an immediate impact starting the final four matches of the USL regular season and all three USL playoff matches at left back. Kiffe appeared in 29 matches for Sacramento Republic FC in 2015, including 24 USL matches. He has recorded three assists in two seasons for Sacramento Republic FC, including Tommy Stewart's stoppage time goal in the 2014 USL Championship match, which gave Sacramento Republic FC a 2-0 lead and ensured the club's first championship.
Prior to joining Sacramento Republic FC, Kiffe spent time with the Ventura County Fusion (PDL), appearing in over 30 matches, including a start against Sacramento Republic FC in the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. He also appeared in 45 matches for UC Santa Barbara from 2009-11, recording 11 assists and scoring three goals. Kiffe and Sacramento Republic FC midfielder Danny Barrera were teammates with the Gauchos in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Sacramento Republic FC training camp will commence on February 1, 2016. For more information, including Kiffe's full profile, visit SacRepublicFC.com.
