The backline for the Tulsa Roughnecks FC received a boost today as the team announced that it has come to terms with defender Iarfhlaith Davoren (EAR-la DAV-er-uhn) to return to the club for the 2016 season. The Irish native was a valuable performer for the Roughnecks during their inaugural USL campaign last year.

Davoren is the second defender to ink a deal for next season. It was announced earlier that Ryan Price will also return to Tulsa in 2016.

"I am very pleased that we are getting Dav back for next season," said Tulsa head coach David Irving. "His experience helped us so much last season, both on the field and in the locker room. I am glad that we were able to persuade him to come back and join our squad."

Davoren missed most of the first month of last season as he waited for his visa application to be finalized. Despite the absence, he appeared in 21 regular season matches for Tulsa, all as a starter. The left back tallied one goal with two assists for the Roughnecks.

The 29-year-old has extensive experience in his native Ireland. His career has included stints with Athlone Town, Galway United, Longford Town, Sligo Rovers and Cork City. The biggest portion of Davoren's career has been spent with Sligo. He has made a total of 150 appearances for Rovers, including a stretch of 53 straight starts.

One of his biggest moments came in the 2011 FAI Cup Final, the oldest domestic soccer competition in Ireland. Davoren's second-half goal forced extra time and eventually penalties where Sligo edged Shelbourne to earn a spot in the UEFA Europa League.

The performance helped him earn a trial with Scottish Premier League side Hibernian FC.

Davoren is expected to be back in Tulsa in February for the start of 2016 preseason training.

Season tickets for the Roughnecks 2016 campaign are currently on sale at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office, at TulsaRoughnecksFC.com and by calling (918)744-5901.
