Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release
The Sacramento Mountain Lions will hold a viewing party at MVP's Sports Grill (2110 L Street., Sacramento, Ca. 95816) for Friday's professional football game between the Florida Tuskers and the Omaha Nighthawks.
The Mountain Lions finished up the regular season at 4-4 but have a bye this week as the United Football League regular season comes to a close. They will be very interested observers as the Tuskers (4-3) visit the Nighthawks (3-4) in Nebraska.
Las Vegas (5-2) has already clinched a spot in the UFL championship game but the other spot will go to the Mountain Lions or Tuskers. The Mountain Lions hold the tiebreaker over both teams so if Omaha wins on Friday night then it's Sacramento that will advance to the title game. Florida will advance to the title game with a victory, as it would then finish the season at 5-3.
The championship game will be played in Omaha, Nebraska at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Nov. 27.
Mountain Lions Director of Business of Management Joe Wagoner has been calling himself the "Temporary Omaha Nighthawks Fan Club President, West Coast Chapter" all week.
"This is a huge night for us," Wagoner said. "We're all Nighthawks fans on Friday. We'll have the place decorated with all things Nighthawks. It's going to be a fun night for the fans."
MVP's will offer $2 Coors Light specials and appetizer specials from 3-7 p.m. There will be Mountain Lions giveaways. Mojo, the Mountain Lions mascot, and the Lady Lions will be on hand as well. The game will be shown on HDNET.
"This is definitely the most important game that we've never played in," Wagoner said. "Go Nighthawks!"
The Mountain Lions drew about 73,000 fans to Hornet Stadium for their four home games this season.
