Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release

Sacramento, CA - MONDAY, August 22, 2011 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions, of the United Football League, will hold training camp at Sacramento City College from August 26 - September 8.

There will be a daily morning practice from 8:15-10:30 a.m. followed by an afternoon practice at 11:30 a.m. each day. The afternoon practices are expected to run until about 12:30 p.m.

Players and coaches will be available to media following practices. Training camp is open to the public.

"All our players and coaches are excited about finally getting started in training camp," Mountain Lions coach DENNIS GREEN said. "We have a lot of players who have played for us returning in their same roles. In addition, drafted players, free agents and some players we claimed from Hartford in the dispersal draft give us a well rounded team."

Mountain Lions receiver OTIS AMEY, a former San Francisco 49er who also played for the Mountain Lions in 2010, is fired up about getting on the field for training camp.

"I'm extremely excited for this year and I know the rest of the guys are too," said Amey, who also starred at Sacramento State. "It's finally here! Time to do what I've been doing since I was seven."

Running back ANDRE DIXON, a former star for the University of Connecticut and a member of the 2010 Hartford Colonials, is ready for his first practice with Green.

"I'm beyond excited. It might sound funny but I can't wait until I get hit and do some hitting again," Dixon said. "I miss the contact. I'm happy to be a Mountain Lion and looking forward to making a run for the championship."

The Mountain Lions will open the 2011 season at home (at Hornet Stadium) against the Las Vegas Locos on Sept. 17. Las Vegas won the UFL championship in 2009 and 2010 under head coach JIM FASSEL.

Sacramento went 4-4 in 2010 and averaged about 18,250 fans for the home games.

Season tickets are on sale now at www.sacmountainlions.com or by phone at (916-383-5466). Individual tickets are expected to go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
