Sacramento Mountain Lions News Release

SACRAMENTO, CA - Monday, August 22 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions, of the United Football League, have signed former Fresno State quarterback RYAN COLBURN.

Colburn was the Mountain Lions' first-round draft pick in May's UFL Draft and he's looking forward to training camp. Sacramento's first practice will be Friday at Sacramento City College, with a press release on training camp coming later today.

Colburn had his best collegiate season in 2010, throwing for 2,817 yards and 23 touchdowns while completing 63.1 percent of his passes last fall. He also ran for three touchdowns. In 2009, he passed for 2,459 yards and 19 touchdowns, and ran for 171 yards and two more scores.

"Ryan Colburn had an excellent career at Fresno State," Mountain Lions head coach DENNIS GREEN said. "We drafted him with our first pick this year because we felt his style of wide-open pass and run would fit our system. Players from Fresno State have had a lot of success in their post college careers."

"I'm very excited about this opportunity and to have a chance to work with the people there," Colburn said. "To be a professional and continue to play the game I love is awesome. It's a huge blessing and it's very exciting. I have heard nothing but good things about the people there. I'm looking forward to playing against great competition and working with a great coaching staff."

Colburn was born in Sacramento, but he grew up in Visalia, California. His family moved from Sacramento when Colburn was just one.

"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to play close to home and in front of family and friends," Colburn said.

The Mountain Lions will open their season at Hornet Stadium against the visiting Las Vegas Locos at 7:30 p.m. on September 17.
