Monarchs 2008 Practice Schedule

Your 2008 Sacramento Monarchs have arrived! Media availability for each practice begins at 2 p.m. at the Monarchs Training Facility in the Media Viewing Room, with interviews to take place about 2:30 p.m. each day; members of the media wishing to attend practice should contact the media relations department at 916.928.8112 each day after 9 a.m. for practice times and location.

Monarchs Opening Night

On Saturday, May 17, the Monarchs opened the 2008 WNBA season with a 73-64 win over the San Antonio Silver Stars in a rematch of the first round of the 2007 WNBA West Conference Playoffs. The Monarchs all-time record against San Antonio now stands at 24-16, including a 15-6 tally at home. Adrian Williams-Strong and Nicole Powell paced the team with 13 points apiece while Rebekkah Brunson led the way underneath the basket with nine boards.

Connecticut Sun 87, Sacramento Monarchs 64

Saturday, May 24, 2008, 4:00 P.M. PDT at Mohegan Sun Arena

With the loss, the Monarchs overall series record against the Sun moves to 11-10 in favor of Sacramento, including a 9-8 Sun advantage in regular season play. Connecticut evened the series at 6-6 when playing on its home court. Rebekkah Brunson led the Monarchs in scoring with 19 points, marking the fourth consecutive game in which she has recorded double-digit point tallies. Kara Lawson and Ticha Penicheiro also scored in double digits, as Lawson notched 12 points and Penicheiro finished with 10. Monarchs rookie forward Crystal Kelly made a team- and game-best 6-of-6 free throw attempts.

MONARCHS CALENDAR

Friday, May 30 - Sacramento Monarchs vs. Houston Comets, 7:00 PM PDT

The Monarchs make their return to ARCO Arena to face the Houston Comets after a three-game road trip during which they fell to Seattle, Chicago and Connecticut.

Friday, June 6 - Sacramento Monarchs vs. Detroit Shock, 7:00 PM PDT

Sacramento hosts the Detroit Shock for the first time this season on Friday, June 6, following a week-long break between games.

Sunday, June 8 - Sacramento Monarchs at New York Liberty, 1:00 PM PDT

The Monarchs head back to the East Coast to face Eastern Conference foe New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden.

2008 Special Events at Monarchs Games During the 2008 season, the Monarchs will be hosting special events for fans to participate in during designated home games throughout the season. The special events at Monarchs games are as follows:
