Tucson Padres News Release

Sacramento scored seven runs before the third inning Sunday and beat the Tucson Padres, 11-3. In their five-run second inning, four River Cats runs were unearned after Matt Clark's error with two outs. Tucson starter Mark Pope arrived from High-A Lake Elsinore and pitched five innings, allowing eight runs, four earned. Pope started the game instead of Matt Palmer, who missed the start because of a blister on his pitching hand.

Yasmani Grandal went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in the Tucson loss. Grandal has at least one hit in all seven games he's played in this season. Anthony Contreras went 2-for-4 with an RBI and also has a seven-game hitting streak. Tucson's Brian Tallet threw a scoreless inning of relief in the eighth.

The Padres won two of the four games in Sacramento, earning their first series split of the season. Tucson dropped to 7-17 with the loss while Sacramento advanced to 16-8.

Next Game: Tuesday, 7:05 pm vs. Tacoma - Two-for-One ticket special at all eegee's locations. Game broadcast begins at 6:45 pm on Tejano 1600 AM.
