Round Rock Express News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. - Dallas Keuchel shut down the E-Train bats and Oklahoma City pounded out 15 hits as the RedHawks beat the Express 9-4 in Sunday afternoon's Pacific Coast League action at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks (16-8) won the series 3-1. The Express (10-14) were outscored 34-to-22 in the four games.
Keuchel (4-0) picked up the win to tie for the league lead. He tossed six and one-third innings and allowed an earned run on eight hits and a walk and struck out three.
Greg Reynolds (1-3) took the loss for the Express. He allowed seven earned runs in five and one-third innings of work. He gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out two.
Oklahoma City struck first in the second inning as Scott Moore scampered home on a throwing error by Express catcher Dusty Brown while trying to catch Justin Ruggiano stealing second. The Express answered in the fourth as Yangervis Solarte doubled and eventually scored on a throwing error by RedHawks shortstop Angel Sanchez to make tie the game.
However, for the fourth time in the series, Oklahoma City used a big inning to put away Round Rock. In the sixth, Reynolds got Jimmy Paredes to fly out to lead off the inning, but then allowed four consecutive singles to give the RedHawks a 3-1 lead. Next, Fernando Martinez drew a walk and Scott Moore followed it up with a two-run double to center field. Two batters later, Brad Snyder smacked a line drive to right to bring home Moore to make it 7-1 Oklahoma City.
Round Rock tried to answer in the sixth but only managed a solo home run off the bat of Matt Kata. With that homer, Kata tied former Express infielder Cody Ransom for third on the Express all-time RBI list with 152.
The RedHawks plated two more in the bottom of the sixth and the Express were only able to manage two more in the eighth on a Julio Borbon ground out and a Dusty Brown RBI single.
Shuck lead the way once again for the RedHawks with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Sanchez, Moore, Hessman and Corporan each had a pair of hits as well.
Borbon and Brown each picked up a pair of hits and an RBI for Round Rock. Solarte's double extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
Round Rock begins a four-game series with New Orleans Monday at The Dell Diamond. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT. Right-hander Zack Jackson (1-2, 5.32 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express opposite Zephyrs right-hander Tom Koehler (0-3, 5.85 ERA).
