San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2003) – The San Jose SaberCats continued to stock their roster for the upcoming 2004 season by signing Bay Area native quarterback Nick Rolovich and defensive back Trayvon Waller. General Manager Terry Malley made the announcement.

Rolovich (6-1, 197) had two stints with the Denver Broncos, attending training camp with the NFL club in both 2002 and 2003. The Broncos allocated him to the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe where he completed 87-of-149 passes for 907 yards and three touchdowns this past spring.

A record-setting signal caller at the University of Hawai'i, Rolovich completed 296-of-541 passes for 4,176 yards and 40 scores in his two years. He closed his UH career with three straight 500-yard passing games, tallying 1,548 yards and 20 touchdowns in those three contests alone.

A 1997 graduate of Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, Calif., Rolovich was a two-time All-America quarterback at City College of San Francisco where he led his team to a national junior college championship in 1999.

Waller (6-1, 185) played two seasons at the University Illinois (1999-2000) after transferring from El Camino College. He played in 12 games as a junior making two starts and preserved a 35-29 win over ninth-ranked Michigan with a fourth quarter interception of a Tom Brady pass.

After starting the first five games of the 2000 season, Waller's campaign was cut short after sustaining a broken ankle at Minnesota.

Signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2001, Waller also spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Named to Gridwire and Bob Griese's 1998 junior college All-American squads, Waller was also a two-time All-Mission Conference selection and named to the Press-Telegram Top 10 JUCO list while at El Camino College.

The SaberCats open their 10th season in the Arena Football League in February. Season and group tickets for the 2004 season are available by contacting a sales representative at (408) 573-5577. Individual game tickets are set to go on sale in mid December and can be purchased through any Northern California TicketMaster outlet or the HP Pavilion box office.
