March 6, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Mar. 6, 2008) - The defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats and FSN Bay Area have reached a deal that will have the local sports network televise the remaining seven SaberCats road games live and in High Definition, the club announced today.
As part of the agreement, FSN Bay Area will also produce and air a 30-minute pre and post game show on five dates starting with Monday's game in Grand Rapids. Host Chris Townsend will preview the upcoming contest and then follow up with a recap and analysis with several of the team's players and coaches.
"This agreement makes sense in a number of ways," stated SaberCats' vice president Hank Stern. "FSN Bay Area has done a tremendous job working with the other local professional sports organizations and partnering with them will help increase our visibility in the Bay Area's sports landscape."
Six of the seven games will air on FSN's main channel with the May 3 game at Orlando being shown on FSN Plus. FSN Bay Area is available locally on Comcast Cable channel 40/720HD and FSN Plus is on Comcast Digital Cable channel 410. Other dates airing a pre and post game show include: Apr. 5 at New Orleans; Apr. 18 at Utah; May 9 at Arizona and May 31 at Los Angeles.
In addition, FSN Bay Area will continue with its "SaberCats Weekly" show, a 30-minute weekly look at the three-time ArenaBowl champions with behind-the-scenes coverage, highlights and features on players and coaches.
SABERCATS WEEKLY
The second season of "SaberCats Weekly" on FSN Bay Area kicks off in 2008 with host Chris Townsend returning to provide interviews, game previews and highlights. In addition, reporter Jayme Sire will be providing in-depth feature stories, delving into the lives and backgrounds of your favorite SaberCat players. As always check local television listings for dates and times. In case you miss an episode, every show can be viewed as a podcast on FSN's website www.fsnbayarea.com.
