SaberCats make roster moves

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2006) - The San Jose SaberCats made a trade with the Philadelphia Soul and released five players from their training camp roster today in an effort to get to the Arena Football League roster limit of 24 players by Monday.
"This is a difficult day," said SaberCats head coach Darren Arbet. "It's always tough to make these types of decisions when all the players in camp worked extremely hard."
San Jose traded WR/LB Yardon Brantley to the Soul in exchange for future considerations and released FB/LB Ja'Mar Toombs, FB/LB Lyndell Hawkins, OL/DL Oscar Grajeda, OL/DL Terry Wagner and OL/DL Gabe Reininger.
The club also announced that WR/DB Kevin Arbet has left the team for personal reasons.
San Jose's roster now consists of 30 players following the recent transactions. With opening night one week away, the club must make a few more moves to get to the league mandated limit by Monday.
"We are still evaluating our options with the roster," Arbet said.
