Blaze set inaugural roster

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze announced their inaugural roster that will take the field on Saturday, January 28 when they travel to play the two-time champion, San Jose SaberCats, at 8:30 p.m. (MT) at HP Pavilion at San Jose.

The AFL's mandatory cut-down date for teams to reach their regular-season rosters is Monday, January 23. League rules allow teams to carry a roster limit of 24 players during the regular season. For every game, a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 20 players will be declared active.

To reach the roster limit, the Blaze waived OS Hurtis Chinn, DS Sullivan Beard, FB/LB Mike Hodges, WR/DB Luke Leverson, OS Khori Ivy, OL/DL Tevita Ofahengaue, FB/LB Levi Madrieta and FB/LB Vai Notoa.

In other roster moves, Utah placed WR/LB Ryan Dennard and OS Troy Mason on Injured Reserve and placed QB Tali Ena, WR/LB Emmett White, OL/DL Doug Kaufusi and OL/DL Kautai Olevao on the practice squad.
