San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2006) - Five-year veteran AFL lineman FRANK BEEDE has re-joined the two-time ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats signing a free agent contract, the club announced today.

Signed by the SaberCats to take the place of injured center Dan Loney, Beede (6-3, 300) will back up starter Rex Richards on the line when San Jose hosts the expansion Utah Blaze in the season opener on Saturday night.

Beede has been with the SaberCats since 2002 playing a major role as one of the team's centers on offense during that time. He took over the starting center job in 2004 leading San Jose to the ArenaBowl championship. He was also a member of San Jose's 2002 title team.

Last season the Antioch, Calif. native played in 13 games joining the team after the season opener.

A versatile lineman who saw action at both guard spots and center in the National Football League, Beede was a member of the Seattle Seahawks for five years and played in 46 games making eight starts.

The SaberCats also placed OL/DL Alan Harper on injured reserve with an ankle injury leaving the opening night roster at 22 players.
