Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - As the Rapid City Rush prepare to begin their sixth season in the Black Hills, the team continues to help promote and assist various causes within the community. This weekend, the Rush will host two key events that will benefit two separate causes, and both are free to the public.
On Sunday, from noon to 1:30pm, the team is hosting a bar-b-que at the Memorial Park bandshell just outside of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The event is put on in partnership with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) and Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation to promote a new fundraiser. From now through October 18th, each full-season ticket purchased will have $100 donated to the local CMN in the purchaser's name.
"The Rapid City Rush organization is extremely excited to team up with the local Children's Miracle Network for the 1st annual Rush/Children's Miracle Network Fundraiser," said Rush assistant General Manager Brandon Schumacher. "When the Rush organization sat down to start this process, it was important to us that the money donated goes to a local charity. We work with the Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation annually for our Pink at the Rink game, so we know how dedicated they are to giving back to our community, it was a perfect fit. Along with that, the players, staff, and owners know that our Rush fans are the Best Fans in the CHL for a reason; when it comes to giving back to the community, they are top notch. We are looking forward to the crowd that will be at the BBQ on September, 29th at 12:00pm."
Since 1983, CMN has raised more than $4.7 billion for 170 children's hospitals across the United States and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it's needed the most. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all in support of the mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
"Children's Miracle Network is proud to team up with such a great organization," said Betty Quasney of the Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation. "100% of the donations from the Rush stays here to help kids in the Rapid City community."
On Saturday, from 7am to 11am, the team is once again partnering with Somerset Court for an annual pancake feed. Rush players, coaches and staff will be serving pancakes to help raise funds for Special Olympics of the Black Hills.
