Rush Pay Tribute to their #1 Fan- Grandma Rush- with Anthem Presentation

SASKATOON, SK. - Last Saturday night at their 2017 Banner Raising Home Opener, the Saskatchewan Rush paid tribute to their 2016 championship season, and at the same time, their number one fan- Grandma Rush, in an emotional affair that truly celebrated her impact on the entire organization.

Prior to the start of the game, Celest Schrader put the finishing touches on a Grandma Rush portrait, all the while performing Oh Canada.  Near the conclusion of the anthem, the painting was presented to Grandma Rush, much to the delight of the sold out crowd of 15,007 fans at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.  Chants of "Grandma Rush" filled the arena as she wiped away a few tears, and made her way to centre-field to drop the game ball for the ceremonial face-off between Rush captain Chris Corbeil and Knighthawks captain Sid Smith.

Her presence at the game was made even more special due to her recent bout with cancer, a challenge she has accepted full on, much to the support of the entire Rush Nation community and players alike.

"It's admirable. Her respect from the team and the lacrosse community, she's huge! She has to know that all of us here on the team have her back and if she ever needs anything, we'll go to war for her." - Rush goaltender Aaron Bold
