Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks spoiled an early four-goal lead and fall 14-10 to the Edmonton Rush on Saturday afternoon.

The Knighthawks (7-8) scored the first four goals, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first 8:27 of the opening quarter. Stephen Keogh, Mike Accursi, Cory Vitarelli and Dan Dawson each scored once respectively to give Rochester the momentum and lead.

After Dawson's first-quarter goal, Edmonton Head Coach Derek Keenan benched goaltender Aaron Bold for Brodie MacDonald, who stole the show in relief. MacDonald made 32 saves on 38 shots in 51:27 and held the Knighthawks scoreless for 26:50 between the first and third quarters.

Zack Greer, who scored a game-high eight points (4+4) led the comeback for the Rush, scoring once in the first and second quarters to help Edmonton (9-6) draw the game even at 4-4 at the half.

Former Knighthawk Jarrett Davis and Alex Turner each scored twice in the third as part of a six-goal quarter for the Rush. Dawson ended the scoring drought 5:17 into the third to tie the game at 5, but Edmonton scored five of the next seven goals to take a 10-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

Greer scored twice on the power play in the fourth to maintain an insurmountable lead. Jamieson and Joe Walters scored back-to-back goals 1:30 apart at 5:19 and 6:49 respectively to come within three at 12-9. Johnny Powless made it 13-10 following the latter of Greer's two goals in the period and Curtis Knight added an empty-netter with 20 seconds remaining.

The Knighthawks were led offensively by Jamieson (1+5), Dawson (2+3), Accursi (1+3) and Powless (1+3). With 43 saves on 56 shots, Matt Vinc became the first Rochester netminder to record over 600 saves in a single season, surpassing Pat O'Toole's team record of 598 set in 2006. With 636 saves on the season, "Vno" needs only nine saves to break Rob Blasdell's league-record of 644 saves in a season.

The Knighthawks return to New York to finish the regular season in Buffalo against the Bandits on Saturday, April 20th at 7:30 p.m. With a win over Buffalo, Rochester would secure the second seed in the East Division. The game can be seen live on the CBS Sports Network and heard on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and on www.sportsradio950espn.com .
