Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - On Thursday night, the Rapid City Rush had their big names step up and lead the way in a 6-2 win over the Arizona Sundogs at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Jesse Schultz and Shawn Limpright each posted three-point efforts while Konrad Reeder netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner. Goaltender Tim Boron turned aside 32 shots to give the Rush their 12th straight win over the Sundogs and pull Rapid City all the way up to second place in the Turner Conference.

Despite being outshot 14-7 in the first period, the first period went nearly ideal for the Rush. The Rush took a 2-0 lead just 7:05 into the contest, burying their first two shots of the game. The first came from Jesse Schultz who backhanded a shot from the bottom of the left circle, beating Sundog goaltender Levente Szuper to the short side. Rapid City doubled the lead when Schultz, stationed behind the net, set up Shawn Limpright at the left circle for the veteran's twelfth goal of the season, ending Szuper's night.

Less than five minutes into the second period, rookie defenseman Wade Poplawski collected his first professional point when he slid a pass to Konrad Reeder on the left wing and the speedster did the rest. Reeder danced past numerous defenders before wrapping a shot past netminder Scott Reid for his twelfth of the year and a 3-0 lead. Midway through the period, a rebound at the side of the Rush net was lifted home by Luke Erickson for his 100th career goal. Just fifty-nine seconds later, an nifty move towards the net by Limpright set up Schultz with a wide-open chance, regaining the three-goal advantage for Rapid City.

The Rush made it a 5-1 game when Les Reaney potted Rapid City's league-leading ninth shorthanded goal of the season by capitalizing on a wrap-around. Finally, Samson Mahbod pulled the Sundogs to within three, but Konrad Reeder sent in his second of the game to give the Rush a 6-2 win.
