RubberDucks Broadcaster Jim Clark to Make Big League Debut March 18
March 13, 2019 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
(AKRON, OHIO) - Akron RubberDucks play-by-play voice Jim Clark will make his Major League debut on March 18, broadcasting the Cleveland Indians' Cactus League game against the San Diego Padres. The game is scheduled for broadcast at 4:05 p.m. ET on MLB.com. Clark will team up with Indians broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus to call the game.
The 2019 season will mark Clark's 27th with the RubberDucks organization. His first season came in 1990, the club's second in Northeast Ohio after becoming the Canton-Akron Indians. During that time, he called games for dozens of future Cleveland Indians, spanning from Bartolo Colon, Jim Thome, Charles Nagy, Carlos Santana, and Grady Sizemore, to Francisco Lindor and Shane Bieber.
"I'm thrilled to join Jim Rosenhaus to call the Indians/Padres exhibition game on March 18. As a lifelong Indians fan and Double-A broadcaster, this is a dream come true," said Clark. "I'm grateful to the Indians organization for the opportunity, and to the everyone in the RubberDucks organization for their support."
"We're incredibly excited and proud of Jim," said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander. "This is a great opportunity for him to show off his talents at the Big-League level after 27 years in the minors-he might be the oldest rookie in MLB history! We can't wait to listen to every pitch on March 18-a well-deserved honor."
Last year, Clark published his first book - "Rally 'Round Cleveland - The Story of the 1974 Franchise-Saving Cleveland Indians" - a day-by-day journey of the 1974 Indians' season, one in which they drew more than one million fans for the first time since 1959 and were only 4.5 games out of first place on Sept. 4.
The 1974 season was highlighted by Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry's 15-game winning streak, pitcher Dick Bosman's no-hitter, the acquisition of Hall of Famer Frank Robinson in September, and of course, the infamous 10-Cent Beer Night.
RubberDucks fans will be able to hear Clark starting with the 2019 Opening Night, Thursday, April 4 at 6:35 p.m. vs. Altoona Curve. The game will be broadcast on WARF Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App.
Fans can purchase tickets by visiting the Akron RubberDucks box office at Canal Park, which is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or fans can call 330-253-5151 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, or visit www.akronrubberducks.com at any time.
