Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Friday, Sep. 20, 2013) - Real Salt Lake, in conjunction with Leo's Paws for the Cause, has teamed up with CureSearch Walk to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for childhood cancer at this Saturday's game against the San Jose Earthquakes at Rio Tinto Stadium.
RSL will donate a portion of ticket sales from this Saturday's near sellout against San Jose to CureSearch Walk. Additionally, a portion of ticket sales from RSL's home games on Oct. 5 against FC Dallas and Oct. 23 against Chivas USA will also go towards the organization. Tickets to those games can be purchased with the promo code: KidsCancer at www.realsaltlake.com/tickets/ticket-promotions. Fans are instructed to contact Jen Petrosky at 801.727.2728 or at jpetrosky@realsaltlake.com for more information.
At halftime of this weekend's match, RSL will recognize a select group of children who are either currently battling cancer or who have defeated the disease. The same group of children will all be participating in the Salt Lake City CureSearch Walk on Oct. 5th, along with Real Salt Lake mascot Leo the Lion, to raise awareness and funds and remember those who have lost battles to cancer. To sign-up for the walk visit CureSearchWalk.org
This Saturday, RSL will also host a swab event with Delete Blood Cancer DKMS to find potential donors for those fighting blood cancers. The swab stations will be in Carnival Real starting at 5:00 p.m. as well as on the East concourse of the stadium after gates open at 5:30 p.m. RSL has hosted two previous swab events - first in 2009 for Claret-and-Cobalt Head Scout Andy Williams' wife, Marcia Williams, and another in 2011 for Jonah Gomez. RSL swab events have resulted in twelve life-saving donors, including former RSL and current FC Dallas GK Chris Seitz, RSL Group Sales Director Scott Reynolds, and as of this Tuesday, RSL PRIDE Season Ticket Holder Josh Kimball.
RSL players have also joined in raising awareness through hospital visitations and social media. DF Lovel Palmer and MF Sebastian Velasquez chipped in this Tuesday, visiting with more than 15 children who are all currently battling cancer.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Each day, 36 children are diagnosed with cancer and more than 40,000 children undergo treatment annually. Sadly, one in five children loses his or her battle to cancer.
Real Salt Lake's Saturday match against San Jose will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. MT at Rio Tinto Stadium. Only Maverik Mayhem Corner and Standing Room Only tickets remain to the game, which is expected to be RSL's sixth home sellout of the season.
