
Royals Score Run in Eight to Defeat Zephyrs, 2-1

Metairie, LA â Aaron Guiel scored on a single from Morgan Burkhart in the top of the eighth to put the Omaha Royals (17-18) ahead for good as the Royals hung on to defeat the New Orleans Zephyrs (19-15) 2 to 1 on Thursday Night at Zephyr Field in front of 2,630.
Omaha scored a run in third as Julius Matos doubled and scored on a single from Guiel. New Orleans tied the game in the seventh as Kyle Logan scored on a single from Alan Zinter. The game didn't stay tied long as Guiel led off the eighth with a walk off Zephyrs starter Rodrigo Rosario. Brandon Berger followed with a single to put runners on first and second. Burkhart hit the first pitch from Rosario into center field to score Guiel.
Royals starter Wes Obermueller (4-3) picked up the win pitching seven innings allowing one run, scattering five hits, striking out four and walking none. Brad Voyles picked up his second save of the season tossing two scoreless innings. Rosario (3-3) suffered the loss pitching seven innings allowing two runs on hits walking four and striking out five.
The Zephyrs go for the split with the Royals on Friday at 7:05 P.M. Zooperstars will perform at the game, a car given away to one lucky fan and fireworks will follow the game. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs and Ron Swoboda calling the action.
