Royals Ready to Open the Doors for Annual Town Hall Meeting

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team will host the organization's annual Town Hall Meeting on Monday, August 22, 2011, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm inside the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
This season's Town Hall Meeting will feature the Toronto Maple Leafs' Vice-President of Hockey Operations, Dave Poulin, and the Assistant General Manager for the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins, Don Sweeney. Also, Royals' General Manager Mark Wallace and Head Coach Larry Courville will address the Town Hall Meeting crowd and open the floor to questions from fans in attendance.
The Royals' organization anticipates making several important announcements during this season's Town Hall Meeting, which will include unveiling details regarding the team's 2011-12 radio and television broadcasts. The Meeting will also address a number of issues related to the upcoming season, including the current state of the ECHL, the team's roster, player personnel decisions, the organization's promotional schedule, and the recent reduction of parking rates at city-operated garages near the Sovereign Center.
The Royals are particularly pleased to welcome Poulin and Sweeney to this year's Town Hall Meeting. Poulin, who is entering his third season as the Maple Leafs' VP of Hockey Ops, played thirteen NHL seasons, including eight with the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1980s, when he served as the team's captain and twice was part of the Flyers' run to the Stanley Cup Finals. Poulin, who was inducted into the Flyers' Hall of Fame in 2004, also served as the head coach of his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, for ten seasons after the completion of his playing career. Sweeney, who is entering his sixth season in the Bruins' front office, also had a long and storied NHL playing career, which included fifteen seasons and over 1000 regular season games with the Bruins. During his playing career with Boston, Sweeney (along with then-teammate Dave Poulin) was also part of an epic run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1990. Sweeney was also selected as an NCAA All-American during his collegiate career at Harvard University.
Please note that fans attending the Town Hall Meeting should enter the Sovereign Center that evening through the Loading Dock Security Entrance (western end of Sovereign Center). Please also note that the Royals' Fan-Attic will be open for extended hours on Monday, August 22, to accommodate fans interested in shopping for Royals' merchandise.
