SURPRISE, AZ - Third baseman Juan Richardson drove in three runs with two key hits, leading the Omaha Royals to a 7-2 victory over the Oklahoma RedHawks Tuesday in Surprise, Arizona. The win improved the Royals' Cactus League record to 3-2.
Richardson stroked a two-run triple to right in the bottom of the fourth to give Omaha a 2-1 lead. His home run to left-center leading off the home half of the seventh snapped a 2-2 tie and ignited a three-run inning. One out later, Brad McCann and Brian McFall connected for back-to-back jacks to make it 5-2. Adam Greenberg's two-run shot in the eighth closed out the scoring.
Veteran big leaguer Brian Lawrence got the start for Omaha and allowed just one run on two hits over five innings, walking two and striking out four. Ryan Braun followed with two innings of relief, yielding a run on two hits, while lefty Nate Hoelscher finished by pitching two scoreless frames.
The Royals will have intra-squad games on Wednesday, before returning to Cactus League action on Thursday when they host the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, in Surprise.
