Victoria Royals News Release

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals fell 2-1 in overtime to the Kelowna Rockets in a playoffesque game that saw both goaltenders steal the show.

Both team's netminders made spectacular saves throughout the contest to keep the game deadlocked. Kelowna netminder Michael Herringer made 36 saves on the 37 pucks he faced to earn first star honours. Victoria goaltender Griffen Outhouse stopped 29 of the 31 shots directed his way in a second star outing.

The Rockets' Justin Kirkland ended the game 3:42 into extra time when he fired a blistering shot through a maze of players that eluded Outhouse. Kelowna's other marker was scored by Dillon Dube in the opening stanza. The only Royal able to beat Herringer was Tyler Soy when he pounced on a loose puck outside the Rockets' crease.

Neither team was able to capitalize on the man-advantage. The Royals held a 0/80.0% mark, while the Rockets went 0/40.0%.
