Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Cole MacDonald buried two goals and added an assist while Carter Hart earned his WHL leading 25th win on 25 saves to help the first place Everett Silvertips rout the Seattle Thunderbirds in a 5-1 victory before a crowd of 8,145 at XFINITY Arena on Saturday.
The win bolstered the Silvertips lead for first place in the U.S. Division to five points, earning their third win in four tries (3-0-1) over their U.S. Division rival while picking up the ninth straight game with a point (7-0-2). Remi Laurencelle, Connor Dewar and Kevin Davis each earned a goal and an assist while the Silvertips power play went 2-of-6, helping post five unanswered goals.
After a scoreless first period, the Silvertips ripped off a pair of goals in 25 seconds for a 2-0 cushion starting with Cole MacDonald's blueline shot that sailed through traffic at 10:49 of the second period, followed next shift by rookie Connor Dewar's sixth goal - a snap shot that fooled Landon Bow from the right circle - for the two goal lead which forced Seattle to burn their timeout.
The Silvertips continued to push and padded the lead to 3-0 on MacDonald's second strike of the game - a power play goal from his snap shot at the left circle - at 2:54 of the third period. Davis then chased Bow for backup Logal Flodell after his third goal of the season - a wrister from between the circles - bumped the Tips lead to 4-0 at 3:49.
Seattle then got into 5-on-3 trouble and Carson Stadnyk took advantage with his 11th goal of the season, a tap-in at the right post set up by MacDonald's bullet from the left point that caromed off Flodell and was redirected by Laurencelle's post-to-post pass.
Donovan Neuls spoiled Hart's shutout bid with 3:45 remaining in the game, but at a point where the game was academic. Bow suffered his first loss in a Seattle uniform while Flodell made 11 saves in 16 minutes of action.
