SPRINGDALE, Ark - Former Naturals infielder Alex McClure was honored on Tuesday morning as the 2012 Mike Sweeney Award winner in a ceremony held at the Royals Spring Training Complex in Surprise, AZ.

McClure split 2012 with Class-A Advanced Wilmington and the Naturals, making appearances at several community events with both organizations. McClure took part in the Naturals Faith and Family Night. The Mike Sweeney award recognizes a player who best represents the organization on and off the field. Sweeney played for the Royals from 1995-2007 and was involved in the Kansas City community during his playing career.

In addition to McClure, former Arkansas Razorback Brett Eibner received the Frank White Defensive Player of the Year award. Eibner, Kansas City's second round pick in the 2010 draft, led the Blue Rocks regular outfielders with a .977 fielding percentage and had five outfield assists. Eibner spent 2012 with Wilmington and could play for the Naturals in 2013.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. Visit our website, nwanaturals.com, for information on season tickets and ticket plans.
