Royals and Reading Phillies Shoot Out The First Puck Tomorrow In Hockey Night At Baseballtown
August 28, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL and the Reading Phillies of the Eastern League will join forces to bring Hockey Night to Baseballtown as a part of the Phillies' game against the New Britain Rock Cats on Tuesday, August 29, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading (game time: 7:05 pm). The first two-thousand fans in attendance on Tuesday will receive a black baseball with purple lacing-the 'reverse image' of the white puck given away at the Sovereign Center on February 19, 2005, when the Royals honored the Phillies during a game against the Trenton Titans-courtesy of All-Star Distributing. In another role reversal harking back to Phillies' night at the Sovereign Center, the players on Reading's pro baseball team are going to don black and purple jerseys-complete with a Royals' logo-which are going to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to benefit both Baseball Town Charities and Royals' Charities, courtesy of WEEU (830 am). The night will be replete with activities for Royals' fans-and all other fans of sports and fun, for that matter-including the first pitch ceremony, during which a member of the Royals' organization will have an opportunity to 'bring the heat'. Also, it is anticipated that several players from the Royals, as well as the ever popular (if somewhat hyper-active) Slapshot, will be on hand to meet and greet fans, as well as sign some autographs. Everyone's invited to Baseballtown on Tuesday to cheer on the Phillies, celebrate Reading's sports scene, and get pumped up for another season of Royals' hockey.
