Royals Add Three to Training Camp Roster

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced the addition of three players to the team's Training Camp Roster. Defenseman Joey Ryan has been assigned to the Royals by the Marlies. Also, in separate transactions, Reading signed forwards Daniel Steiner and Jimmy Fraser to Tryout Agreements. Today, the Royals also released forward Jean-Francois Boucher. In transactions previously completed, Reading released defenseman Matt Harris and goaltender Shane Davis from their respective Tryout Agreements.

Ryan (6'1/204) (21), who hails from Stoneham, Massachusetts, split last season between the Marlies (3g-9a=12pts, 42 pims in 36 games) and the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL (1g-6a=7pts, 31 pims in 20 games). Ryan, who was a second round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings in 2006, was a member of the Memorial Cup Champion Quebec Remparts in 2006 and the President Cup (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs) Champion Gatineau Olympiques in 2007-08. Steiner (6'0/198) (29), a native of Bern, Switzerland, has played the last ten seasons in the Swiss National League A, scoring 108 goals and assisting on 114 others in 381 regular season games. Fraser (5'11/185) (22), who hails from Port Huron, Michigan, completed a four year career last year at Harvard University, where he scored fifteen goals, assisted thirty-nine others (fifty-four points) and racked up 162 penalty minutes in 128 total collegiate games. Fraser, who served as a team captain for the Crimson in his senior season, twice served as team captain of U.S. National development teams and was an alternate captain on the US team that won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in 2007.

The Royals open the 2009-10 ECHL season on Thursday, October 15, 2009 (7:05 pm) when the Kalamazoo Wings make their first visit ever to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
