St. Cloud Rox News Release

ST CLOUD- St. Cloud defeated the Waterloo Bucks 9-4 in front of 1,319 fans at Joe Faber Field to move within one half game of first place Willmar with four games remaining in 2012. The win was the Rox seventh straight and moves their record to 19-13 in the second half.

The Rox won the game due in large part to a seven run bottom of the third inning. Elvin Soto (Pittsburgh) hit a bases-clearing triple to plate three runs and break the game open at 5-0. A Chris Paul (California) RBI single and Mark Rhine (Wake Forest) RBI single capped the scoring in the frame to give the Rox a 7-0 lead.

St. Cloud starting pitcher Zach Hirsch (Nebraska) lasted five innings and allowed one earned run on eight hits in earning the win. Jimmy Jensen (Menlo College) pitched two scoreless innings to close out the contest.

Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Phil Imholte (St. Cloud State) sacrifice fly to second base with Henkemeyer tagging up from third base on a daring play.

Boo Vazquez (Pittsburgh) led the Rox with a 2-4 effort at the plate including his third home run of the season, a towering shot to deep right field in the seventh inning for the Rox ninth run.
