Rox top Spirit, 7-4

The Brockton Rox snapped the North Shore Spirit's mini two-game winning streak Thursday night with a 7-4 victory at the New Fraser Field.

Shad Williams, making his first start in a Rox uniform, picked up the win. Williams worked eight innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. Dave Stevens pitched ninth for his first save of the season.

Klae Calvert (3-1) took the loss for North Shore. Clavert gave up six runs on eighth hits over seven innings.

Brockton sent ten men to the plate in the first, scoring six times against Calvert. Jake Daubert, Kris Zacuto, and Brian Jones all had RBI singles in the inning.

North Shore got one back in the home half of the first. Marcos Agramonte lead off with a triple and scored two batters later on a Vic Davilla RBI basehit.

The Spirit scored single runs in both the third and the fifth. Agramonte's second hit of the night drove home Yuri Sanchez, cutting Brockton's lead to 6-3.

In the eighth, Travis Oglesby hit his team-leading 15th homerun of the season, a solo shot to right, to pull the Spirit within two. Thats as close as they would get however. Brockton added an insurance run in the ninth on a Bo Newson RBI single.

Fischer and Agramonte both returned to the Spirit lineup after spending time on the disabled list. Agramonte was out with a shoulder injury and Fischer was sidelined with a sprained ankle.

The Spirit has planned a couple of great promotions for the final weekend series of the regular season. Tonight the Spirit will host Patriots Kickoff Night courtesy of Sports King & Sylvan Street Grille. The first 1,000 fans will receive a mini-cooler & one lucky fan will have the opportunity to win a trip for 2 to Miami to see the Patriots take on the Miami Dolphins.
